Course rosters in Workday cannot be modified, however you can use the default course roster and split the column with the student name and ID in excel.  We are working on customizing a report for faculty to export course roster.

Download your course roster in Excel


Click your app Faculty Teaching and Advising

Under Frequently Used Tasks, select View Course Section Roster

Scroll down to the term and select your course. Click OK

On the top right of your course roster, select the excel icon

Click Download

On your computer,  under Download folder,  open your excel file



Split Columns in Excel


Open the excel document and select columns and rows

Under Data tab, select From Table Range

Data / Table


On Create Table,  select OK

Select the tab Transform.  Select the column to split.

Click on Split Column.

Select by Delimiter.

Select Delimiter Space

Select Each Occurrence of the delimiter

Click Advance

Select Split into Columns

Enter number of columns: 3

Select Quote Character: None

Click OK

The original column with Name + ID will be split into 3 columns: First Name, Last Name, ID

Under Home tab, click Close & load

close and load


Excel will add a new spreadsheet to your file with the split columns

Cleanup the ID column. Highlight the ID field, search and replace the dash ( -).
