There are two groups of Kaplan users with 2 different access. 

The first group is Student Success Managers. This group has read-only permissions to access student courses, grades, and submissions.

Student Success Manager Permission (SSM role) Permission List:

  • Analytics - view pages
  • Announcements - view
  • Course Content - view
  • Courses - view list
  • Courses - view usage reports
  • Discussions - view
  • Feature Options - view
  • Grades - view all grades
  • Grades - view change logs
  • Quizzes - view submission log
  • Statistics - view
  • Users - act as
  • Users - view list
  • Users - view login IDs
  • Users - view primary email address

The second group is the Instructional Design Team. This group has read and write permissions. Their role is to develop courses with faculty members.

Kaplan Instructional Design Team Permission (ID role) Permission List:

  • Analytics - view pages

  • Assignments and Quizzes - add / edit / delete
  • Blueprint Courses - add / edit / associate / delete
  • Course Calendar - add / edit / delete events
  • Course Content - add / edit / delete
  • Course Content - view

  • Discussions - create
  • Discussions - view
  • Groups - add / edit / delete
  • Groups - view all student groups
  • LTI - add / edit / delete
  • Learning Outcomes - add / edit / delete

  • Manage Pages
  • Outcome Mastery Scales - add / edit
  • Outcome Proficiency Calculations - add / edit
  • Question banks - view and link
  • Quizzes - view submission log

Both of these roles are account-level roles. They have to be added on an account level. 

Kaplan accounts live under each college. Kaplan accounts are called Undergraduate Online Divison. 

For example to add Kaplan SSM or ID to the college of business, please follow the following:

  1. Login to Canvas https://lynn.instructure.com/accounts/1
  2. Navigate to Sub-Accounts
  3. Find College of Business
  4. Under College of Business, there will be 3 sub-accounts (Graduate Division, Undergraduate Division, Online Undergraduate Division)
  5. Click on Online Undergraduate Division
  6. Once inside the Online Undergraduate Division, click on Settings
  7. In the Settings page, click on the Admins tab
  8. Click +Account Admins
  9. Under Add More, pick either Kaplan ID Admin or Kaplan SSM Admin
  10. In the text box, add the user's email address
  11. Click Continue
  12. Confirm the user and the role, then click OK Looks Good, Add This # User button

Unfortunately, Kaplan admins will need to be added under Undergraduate Online Division for each college account. So each admin will be added 4 times (College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Aeronautics, and College of Communication and Design)

Before adding users, make sure to confirm with the Kaplan team what role they should be assigned.

Once SSMs are added to the sub-accounts as admins, they need to be added to the course Undergraduate Online Student Orientation as teachers. 

This is the course where SSMs will track the new students' progress for the online orientation.
